Since eating pizza and enjoying a laid back vibe were two things that appeal to us at O3, we wanted the crew at Peace a Pizza to get a feel of the hippy love we had for them and their brand. With two
meetings already in the books and the
proposal already in hand, we decided to
show them how much we wanted the project by building a mascot for them. We designed and
molded Slicey, made from clay and lots of love.
We then took the trippy little dude on a field trip around the city, showing the cheesy superhero
in real life situations, including hiding
him in a elevator shaft poised to take
out the delivery guy from a potential
competitor. In the end, we think it worked!
And even if that wasn't the reason they
chose our web designers, the pepperoni
crusader has a permanent spot on the window
ledge of our conference room. Next to Buddha
of course, because they are both chill dudes.
The Peace a Pizza brand is more than just good pizza...it's also about the lifestyle. The owners wanted their site to give off a professional feel for current and potential franchisees, but without losing the groovy personality that makes them stand out in the pizza and franchise crowd. We developed the site on an HTML backbone so that it would still be tasty for Search Engines, but worked in some flash elements to add personality to the site. We used the featured spot to showcase their super sweet print ads and promotions, which were done by their in house designer, and worked in a few other subtle elements to engage the end user. The background of the site, in all its trippy glory, changes colors as you click through the site, but more importantly are the action items that hover outside the framework of the site. Most notably of these features, of course, is the chill van in the corner. Roll over it and you will be taken to a far off, chill place, with reggae and good times. Roll off of it...and you're all business again.
No worries, we made sure that this super cool site had a super cool Content Management System hooked into it. In addition to the updates they can make throughout the site, including a custom form builder, they have a dynamic page creator. So if they need to build an extra section as an Ode to Slicey, they can do it through the Content Management System. Over the next few months we may be rolling out more features, including an e commerce component...but for the time being, just throw on some shades, kick back and roll over the van.
