Di Bruno Bros. is a nearly 75 year old, Philadelphia-based purveyor of gourmet meats and artisan cheeses from across the globe. The Di Bruno Bros. name is built on decades of service and expertise, but their outdated website failed to get across the company’s history and values, and it didn’t give customers a great experience. Di Bruno Bros. had a number of goals for their new site. First, to enhance the design to better represent the Di Bruno brand by focusing on their history, service and personality. Second, to integrate with a new CMS and eCommerce platform that would enable the Di Bruno staff to update their site quickly, run reports easily, and integrate with new initiatives effortlessly. Third, to strengthen the online shopping experience by creating more unique, interactive features for users and rework the entire checkout process to ensure the fastest, most streamlined path to purchase.

We built a completely custom experience that leans on tradition and leverages technology. We chose the Magento Enterprise eCommerce CMS for Di Bruno Bros. based on its ease of use, unparalleled feature set, customizability, and raw power. The new Magento-powered site features a variety of unique, customized solutions including a beautiful, intuitive design that is true to the Di Bruno Bros. brand, entirely custom main site navigation using custom attributes and granular filtering, and integration with the blog allows purchases directly from posts featuring the products. The entire shopping cart, checkout, and multi-address features are completely custom code powered directly via the Magento Core API. We also worked with Di Bruno Bros. to create the Virtual Cheesemonger, a recommendation engine that recreates the in-store experience of working with an expert cheesemonger.

The Results

The new Di Bruno Bros. site has seen an increase in repeat customers and record-breaking sales. We completed the build in time for their big holiday rush, and it’s been a resounding success across the board. Total transactions increased by more than 33% during the Holiday period since the sites implementation, with the largest single day increase of 65% coming on Cyber Monday. Di Bruno has seen a nearly 39% increase in overall online revenue and an over 45% increase in units sold in the Holiday period. Average order value has increased by 4%. Hungry now?
