Two.one.five came to us with a design layout and general editorial overview for their yet to launch magazine. We developed the site before the magazine, as a way to gauge how their editors were going to use it, as well as a way to gauge what their audience was responding to before the print version hit the streets. Since they had an in-house designer, we developed the site to allow for more creative flexibility with updates, which included the Flash slideshow on the home page and the site’s background wallpaper, which they can change out to match the cover of each issue.
Being a quarterly publication, two.one.five recognized the need to invest even more time, money and energy towards their online presence. Beyond providing unique content not found in the print pub, they wanted to provide multi-media options to keep up with the You Tube and ipod fixations of their audience. We developed a multi-tiered, content managed solution for them to house video, podcasts and photos. The tabbing system we created for them, which lives on the home page, was put in place as a way to save space without sacrificing content. All of this of course is only completely accessible to the consumer after you have gone through the registration process for the site.
Web 2.0 needed to make an impact on Web 215, so we incorporated Shooting Fish, a user generated photography and video gallery. The section allows users to update their photos and videos, but only after it’s been approved by the site’s administrators in the back end of the site. This section, much like the multimedia section, was developed several months after the site’s launch and after two.one.five responded to their audience’s requests, which falls into the Revise and Grow categories of our process, if you’re keeping track.
